Chairman of the Board
Dr. Babur Lateef is a practicing ophthalmologist in northern Virginia for the last 25 years. He is regularly recognized one of the “Top Doctors in Northern Virginia”. He is also an Assistant Clinical Professor at George Washington University’s School of Medicine. He currently serves as the elected Chairman of the Prince William County School Board. For the last seven years, he has overseen the second largest school division in Virginia and the 32nd largest school division in the country. It is one of the largest employers in the Commonwealth, employing 17,000 people and educating 90,000 students. It has a current budget of approximately $2 billion. He has also served as the chair of the audit committee insuring good governance and fiscal responsibility. He has strategically aligned resources to improve Prince William County Schools to being one of the top performing divisions in the state.
From 2016-2024, he served as a member of the Board of Visitors of the University of Virginia. He chaired the Audit Committee and the Health System Board overseeing a $7 billion operation. Under his leadership the health system grew dramatically and expanded their footprint across the Commonwealth. He was instrumental in helping raise millions of dollars to fund strategic initiatives and research priorities.
